SemaQuote gives you multiple secure ways to sign in. Whether you prefer a traditional email and password or the convenience of single sign-on with Google or Apple, you have got options. Pick what works best for you.
Your Login Options at a Glance
Email and Password
The classic approach. Use the email address and password you created when you signed up.
Best for: You prefer keeping your SemaQuote account separate from other services, or you do not use Google or Apple accounts regularly.
Google Sign-In
Log in instantly with your existing Google account. No extra password to remember.
Best for: You already live in the Google ecosystem and want quick, seamless access across all your devices.
Apple Sign-In
Log in using your Apple ID with the added security of Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
Best for: Apple device users who appreciate biometric security and privacy features. Bonus: Apple Sign-In lets you hide your email address if you prefer.

Staying Signed In
Good news: you do not need to sign in every time you open SemaQuote.
On the Web
SemaQuote keeps you signed in as long as you are using the app regularly. You might be asked to sign in again after a long break or when accessing sensitive account settings (this is a security feature, not a bug).
On Mobile
The app keeps you signed in automatically. You will only need to sign in again if:
- You manually sign out
- You uninstall and reinstall the app
- There is a security-related change to your account
About Linking Login Methods
Can you use multiple login methods?
Currently, each SemaQuote account is tied to one login method. If you signed up with Google, you will always sign in with Google. Same goes for email or Apple.
Want to switch methods?
If you would rather use a different login method (say, switch from email to Google), reach out to our support team at support@semaquote.com. We can help you migrate your account while keeping all your data intact.
Keeping Your Account Secure
A few minutes spent on security now can save you headaches later. Here are our recommendations based on how you sign in.
For Email and Password Users
- Use a unique password - Do not reuse your SemaQuote password anywhere else
- Make it strong - Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters
- Consider a password manager - Tools like 1Password, Bitwarden, or your browser's built-in manager can generate and remember strong passwords for you
For Google Sign-In Users
- Enable two-factor authentication on your Google account - this protects both Google and SemaQuote
- Review your security settings periodically to see which apps have access
- Keep your Google password strong - it is now a gateway to SemaQuote too
For Apple Sign-In Users
- Keep your Apple ID secure with a strong password and two-factor authentication
- Review your Sign in with Apple settings under Apple ID > Password & Security > Apps Using Apple ID
Signing Out
Sometimes you need to sign out - maybe you are using a shared computer or switching devices.
On the Web
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
- Select Sign Out
- You will be returned to the login page
On Mobile
- Go to the Settings tab
- Scroll down and tap Sign Out
- Confirm when prompted
- You will see the welcome screen
Troubleshooting Login Issues
Forgot Your Password?
If you signed up with email and password:
- Go to the login page
- Click Forgot password?
- Enter your email address
- Check your inbox for a reset link
- Create a new password
Note: This only works for email/password accounts. Using Google or Apple? Reset your password through those services instead.
Google or Apple Sign-In Not Working?
Try these steps in order:
- Check your internet connection - both methods need a stable connection
- Refresh the page or restart the app - this fixes most temporary glitches
- Clear your browser cache and cookies - old data can interfere with authentication
- Check if third-party cookies are blocked - some browsers block them by default, which breaks OAuth
- Try an incognito/private window - this rules out extension conflicts
Seeing "Authentication Failed"?
This usually means one of a few things:
- Wrong credentials - double-check your email and password
- No account exists - you might need to create an account first
- Network hiccup - check your connection and try again
- Browser issue - try a different browser or clear your cache
Cannot Remember How You Signed Up?
It happens. Here is how to figure it out:
- Try Google Sign-In first (it is the most common)
- If that does not work, try Apple Sign-In
- Finally, try entering your email address - if an account exists, you will see your options
